Walkers crisps mighty lights and back to school.

The return to school is taunting me.  Great big ‘Back to school’ signs adorn shop windows.  A little bit of me whimpers and dies.

I have done the uniform shop, two this year but already thinking next year I will be kitting Erin out in her first school uniform.  How can that be even possible???  I have done my own back to school shop, every August sees me buying a new wardrobe of teaching uniform and the required winter boots!  I like buying clothes I have a thing about fashion for the children but I am less good at buying for me.  I now stick to buying complete outfits that is why I have just bought two tops exactly the same but in different colours!  If I find something I like I will buy the range!  That way I know it co ordinates!

One thing I am not good at is making myself a packed a lunch.  Each night I make Lee and children thier sandwiches and other bits but I don’t each sandwiches myself which leaves me a bit limited.  One thing I do like is a packet of crisps.  I have really low blood pressure so I have been advised to eat crisps to help, it gives me the extra salt I need to keep functioning through the day.   See Doctors orders – eat crisps! Just shows that everything in moderation is called for.  However I am also trying to be good and healthy as I’m in training for the Cheltenham half marathon.  Therefore when I heard walkers had a new range that were 30% less fat than a standard bag I was interested!

They come in three flavours and the teen spotted the packets straight away.  The crisps are tasty, ridged crisps that come in three flavours – roast chicken, cheese and onion and lightly salted. All the flavours are suitable for vegetarians, and are available in shops nationwide. They’re made from real potatoes with no artificial colours of preservatives-  and they’re a source of fibre.  The nutritional information is clearly labelled on the packet.  They contain 114 calories.

They tasted good, something the children and I agreed on!  We like crisps that are chunky and especially ridged crisps so these ticked the boxes.  There is something to crunch on.  These will be in all of our lunchboxes when the new term starts and I just need to find something to go with them now!  Again it is all part of having that healthy balance.  The children are good at eating fruit in their lunch boxes and also quite healthy snacks.  However I do struggle with lunch boxes as although they are often cheaper than school dinners I struggle to find enough variety.  I remember being bored of my own lunch boxes as a child.  This is something I am going to try hard to recify this school year.  If you have any suggestions I’d love to hear them.
